Ransomware is a type of malware that allows hackers to commandeer data on a device or an entire network. Increasingly, the threat actors behind these crimes set their sites on mission critical targets. We talked about it with renowned cybersecurity expert Keren Elazari this week.

The target might be a hospital or a bank, it might be the system that delivers critical infrastructure such as telecommunication, water or even electricity. Still failing or succeeding on an unfixable constant (human error), these attacks persist, and so we thought it might be a good idea to check in on the state of disintegration in the war of attrition that we’re all fighting (most of us by proxy) against this cyber menace.

The Tinfoil Swan takes a look at a hacking gadget that is not new, but still finds its way into people’s lives because of poor cyber hygiene. This week, we discuss the pwnagotchi.
